Foxes hunt mostly in an Edge. Do you know what an Edge is? An edge is the area where to types of plant communities come together. An example would be where woods are near farmland or or grassland. 
Can you think why an Edge would be a good hunting ground for a fox? Well there would be lots of mice, rats, snakes, birds and other food for them to hunt in those areas while being near the woods where foxes could find a good den. Because edges have a very diverse variety of plant life there is also a wider variety of small animals.
