A fox is often called the smallest of the dog family. Sometimes foxes
are also called a cousin to the dog.
However a red fox is NOT like a dog.
A
fox is a wild animal and does NOT make a good pet. They are adapted to
live in the wild and are not easily managed as a pet. Many of their wild
habits are natural and cannot be 'trained' out of them. Not only do the
have a very strong odor they are very destructive in a house because they mark
their territory and will continue to try to dig and hide food. They will
bite if they feel frightened.
You cannot take the big stink out of a fox and
you cannot teach them not to tear things up in a house. So if you want to see a fox,
go to the zoo. if you find a fox, leave it alone and tell an adult.
