The Maltese breed is from Malta Italy. A Maltese is about 5 to 9.75 inches at the shoulder. Maltese dogs have long white hair with no undercoat. They are eager to learn. The Maltese is also known for being extremely friendly and sociable. The Maltese is also known for getting along very well with children, other dogs, cats and household pets. the Maltese also makes an exceptional companion for any elderly family member. The Maltese is so even tempered and happy go lucky.

The Maltese does require some grooming. Daily brushing is helpful. You can use special lotions to remove tear stains. The Maltese dog does not shed. So combing and brushing help to remove dead hairs around the eyes. The Maltese is very tender hearted and sensitive. When training this breed use lots of encouragement instead of harsh words. The exercise needs of this dog are uncomplicated. It will adapt itself to the activity level of your family.
