http://www.bonobo.org/ The Bonobo Conservation Initiative (BCI) is a non-profit (USA: 501-c3) organization based in Washington, D.C. Thier mission is to promote conservation of the bonobo and its tropical forest habitat in the Congo Basin. The Initiative is working to increase global awareness, build partnerships, and raise funds for conservation activities.

One of the primary missions of the Bonobo Conservation Initiative and bonobo.org is to raise awareness about bonobos and their endangered plight in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Another goal is to facilitate partnership among various people and organizations working for bonobo conservation — and to help broaden and strengthen that network. The ultimate goal is to protect bonobos in the Congo.

http://www.colszoo.org/bonobonewsletter/ The Bonobo Banner a bonobo newsletter. Welcome to the inaugural issue of Bonobo Banner, a newsletter dedicated to the bonobo, both captive and wild, and the people who work with and for the bonobo.  Our mission is threefold:

bulletEncourage a greater knowledge of and appreciation for the bonobo by the general public.
bulletProvide information useful to personnel working with both captive and wild bonobos.
bulletHighlight humanitarian concerns and relevant projects in Democratic Republic of Congo, the only country to contain natural bonobo habitat.

To assist with achieving the first mission, the Zoo is placing the Bonobo Banner on its web page in addition to publishing a limited number of hard copies.  You can find the newsletter at www.columbuszoo.org/bonobonewsletter . Please encourage your friends and associates to review its contents.

The Memphis Zoo has a troop of Bonobos which is comprised of one male, three females and one infant.
