 Cougars are large and muscular cats. They average 7 to 9 feet long. At least 1/3 of that length is their tail. Their tail is very long. Cougars usually weigh between 150 and 200 pounds when full grown, some are smaller and some are larger. Cougars are old enough to have babies when they are about 2 1/2 to 3 years of old. Mating is not seasonal. They usually have 1 to 6 kittens after a gestation period of 80 to 100 days. The kittens' eyes open in 8 or 9 days. Cougar kittens are weaned in 2 to 3 months.
