Cougars can live in several different kinds of habitats ranging from coastal swamps to mountain slopes. They adapt very well to their environment. These large predators need a lot of undisturbed wooded areas that have lots of white-tailed deer.

Areas that were once wilderness and filled with deer, have now become filled with towns and people. This has diminished the habitats of the cougar.
