Photos of Patagonian Cavy at Dickerson Park Zoo Springfield
The Patagonian Cavy is a member of the rodent family and is native to
Patagonia. Cavies can run very fast and are known to leap up to six feet. They
make their nests in burrows. Sometimes they dig their burrows and sometimes the
use burrows or dens made by other animals like armadillos. A female Patagonian
Cavy will have about 1 to 3 babies at a time. Cavies will come out in the day or
night, but when people are around allot they tend to come out more at night.
E-cards are being prepared and will be posted with the full size
photos. Think about a Patagonian Cavy with a Santa hat on......
